Description
De Tomaso Pantera built 1/4/1972 for export to US, sold in Los Angeles 31/8/1972, first owner 1972-1991, second owner 1991-2008, third owner 2008-2012.
Certificate of authedication by Marti – report (Marti has the old records for all the Lincoln-Mercury dealers in US). VIN THPNMG03178, original color silver.
Complete restoration.
Body: Disassembled, no rust, sandblasted with aluminium oxide in low compression, cold galvanizing, fixing of all details of the body, double undercoating, original red paint in final coating, double gloss upper coating, polishing.
Engine: Matching numbers original motor Cleveland 351C 4V 5776 cc, complete restoration -all the parts new except crankshaft (rebuilt).
Gearbox: Completely rebuilt in USA, 5-speed manual.
Halfshafts: New.
Brakes: Rebuilt, with a second vacuum pump and a secondary Ate brake booster for maximum performance.
Fuel tank: New 90 litres with new fuel indicator.
Fuel pump: Pierburg electrical, new.
Carburettor: Rebuilt Holey CFM750 four barrel two stage. Intake: Jack Rush Nascar system. MSD digital 6A ignition control. Special 100A-12V generator.
Radiator: New FLUIDYNE racing radiator with new dual blowers with secondary electric Daniel Craig racing water pump. Special dual water deposits system (SS tank & overflaw tank). All water pipes polished, stainless steel, new. New water pump with 1:1 gear ratio. The engine is running at 78 degrees Celcius and doesn’t get hotter than 89 degrees even in hard conditions (common Pantera problem solved). Ford Motorsport engine covers and air filter. Original clutch boost system for easier use.
Electrical: original electric cable system, original dual popup headlights (1991), European-spec small sidelights, new fog lights with ring daylights, original dual horns, new windshield washing device, rebuilt wiper motor, gt5 turn lights with bases (not installed yet).
Instruments-gauges: Original Veglia and custom Speedhut (special order). Now custom are onboard.
Interior: Black leather. Rebuilt dashboard. The seats have been changed by the first owner in 1985. Pontiac Fiero bucket seats were optional replacement in Linkoln Mercury dealers back then. I am fond of them and as a piece of the car’s history I have them rebuilt. Before the restoration of the upholstery, all the metallic interior surfaces were insulated with Dynamat special material for external noise reduction.
Wheels: Two sets. Original alloy Campagnolo magnesium rims restored with electrostatic painting in grey color and 225-60R15 tyres. Second set: Forgestar light alloy rims, special order 12X18 rear, 10X17 front, tyres 235/40R17 & 335/30R18 Τoyo R888.
Exhaust system: Custom-made identical to ANSA original, stainless steel with extra silencers to all four exits.
The driving of the Pantera is a unique experience. The torque is intoxicating. It gains speed instantly due to its huge horsepower and small weight. The power is so efficient that you can start with 5th gear and keep speeding forever…
Time for the restoration required: two years.
The car has only 1800 km in the odometer.
